So the long-standing problem of the broken relationship between Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor has never been resolved as the veteran writer Naseem Mukri has once again been talking about her reasons behind it. In an interview, Mukri claimed that the engagement was over because of a financial requirement made by Karisma Kapoor's mother, Babita.

We note that these are allegations made by Naseem Mukri. Neither the Bachchan family nor Karisma Kapoor or Babita have publicly confirmed these claims.
According to Mukri, Babita asked Karisma Kapoor to tell Abhishek Bachchan to transfer a lot of money before the wedding. He said the demand was linked to Karisma's successful career at the time, as she was one of Bollywood's biggest stars while Abhishek was still establishing himself in the film industry.
Mukri claimed Babita wanted financial security for her daughter before the marriage and that this became one of the major reasons behind the engagement being called off. But he did not present any evidence to support these claims.
Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor were one of Bollywood’s most popular couples in the early 2000s. Their engagement was officially announced in 2002 at Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday celebrations to the surprise of all and even the film industry. The engagement was cut short a couple of months later in a very short period of time.
There have been many theories that emerged regarding the reason behind their separation. It has been speculated in many media reports that financial problems, career priorities, and compatibility issues led the two to split. However, neither Abhishek Bachchan nor Karisma Kapoor have publicly opened up about the reason behind their breakup.
Both actors moved on from the breakup. Abhishek Bachchan married actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 2007 and the couple has a daughter, Aaradhya. Karisma Kapoor married businessman Sanjay Kapur in 2003, and although they eventually separated, Karisma still concentrates on her family and selective acting jobs.
Mukri’s comments have reignited public interest in one of Bollywood’s most high-profile broken engagements. And social media users are far from convinced of the accusations, with some pointing out that the alleged events took place more than two decades ago and are not verified.
As of now, neither Abhishek Bachchan, Karisma Kapoor, Babita, nor any family member of the Bachchan or Kapoor families has given any official response to Mukri’s statements. In the absence of any proof and evidence, the claims need to be considered unverified allegations and not facts.
The story is an early reminder that celebrity relationships often remain the subject of speculation long after they have ended. Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor’s broken engagement is not something that is spoken about by the families, at least according to those in charge.
