In actors playing difficult roles, it is more than memorizing lines and acting scenes for them. Intense roles are where they may be confronted with difficult emotions, stressful situations and complex personalities.

Sanon explains that the emotional weight of these performances does not always disappear immediately once shooting is over; after a film is completed, the emotional weight of such performances does not always disappear.

Sanon’s remarks provide a glimpse of the less obvious side of acting. While audiences see the final performance on screen, actors may spend weeks or even months emotionally attached to the characters they portray.

It is often very hard to shift from their real personality to a fictional character.

It is important, the actor said, to recognize these emotional effects and not just move on to the next assignment.

For performers working on psychologically challenging roles, putting distance from a character is really important.

Her comments also add to the dialogue around mental health within the entertainment industry. Film sets can involve long working hours, hectic schedules, public attention and a lot of pressure to perform consistently.

When those pressures are added to emotionally difficult roles, a healthy routine becomes even more critical.

Self-care can take different forms for different people. Family and friends, time off from work, exercising, hobbies or just enough time to rest and so on can create a healthier separation between professional and personal life.

Sanon’s perspective is especially relevant as Indian cinema continues to explore more complex characters and emotionally challenging stories.

Actors are now going to be playing roles that are deep in psychology and that means that they need to depict grief, fear, anger, trauma and other difficult emotions well.

The preparation for such performances has also been getting more of an audience’s attention.

A powerful performance might look effortless on screen; however, it’s a lot more of an emotional and physical effort to deliver.

Sanon’s point is that professional effort should never come at the expense of personal well-being.

An actor who has to wait for emotional time to reset after emotionally demanding work is not less dedicated to the craft. But that helps to more easily return to work and to a better emotional state.

As the discussions of mental health become more open, Sanon’s comments add another aspect of the picture.

The entertainment industry can be so focused on performances and releases and box office numbers but we also need space for those who make those performances to recover.

In the film industry, knowing when to step back from a character is as important as knowing how to step into one.

Sanon’s focus on mental self-care shows a more nurturing approach to emotionally demanding work both on and off the set of a movie.
