Salman Khan has agreed to reduce his acting fee for his upcoming film with director Vamshi Paidipally. The actor has been paid less in advance (see details in paragraph 4) and has a long history with Rafi Kazi who was one of the producers and was instrumental in bringing the movie together.
According to the official report, neither Salman Khan nor the makers of the film did, however, officially confirm the remuneration details.
Salman is said to have agreed to make an exception for this project because he has commanded ₹120 crore per film for nearly two decades. The decision was not about money but because of Rafi Kazi's personal relationship.
According to the reports, Rafi Kazi was the mediator between Salman Khan and the production team. His name will be credited as one of the producers of the film. Salman agreed to reduce his upfront fee as a gesture of goodwill toward his colleague.
The untitled film (now called SVC 63) will be produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations, one of the top production houses in Telugu cinema. Salman Khan will work with the world-famous filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally, who has written and directed many successful movies with top Indian actors.
The plot details are secret but the collaboration appears to be eagerly awaited by the public at large. Salman Khan’s mass appeal and Vamshi Paidipally’s commercial filmmaking style is going to help make the film one of the most eagerly awaited movies in the coming years.
In the Indian film industry, actors are not new to negotiating their remuneration for projects with colleagues and/or producers with whom they have long-standing relationships. Sometimes stars will settle for an initial sum and share in the film’s profits or pay on a flexible basis depending on the project’s size.
