Sooraj Barjatya has finished shooting his much awaited musical family drama Yeh Prem Mol Liya. The film, produced by Rajshri Productions in partnership with Mahaveer Jain Films, is now in post-production and is set to go out on November 27, 2026.
The film is also critical to Barjatya’s career and it introduces Ayushmann Khurrana as the new “Prem”, one of the most popular characters in Hindi cinema. For some time now the name “Prem” has been associated with Sooraj Barjatya’s family entertainers and Ayushmann is now living up to that reputation with a fresh take on the iconic character.
Sharvari plays the female lead opposite Ayushmann in what could be a heartwarming story about love, relationships and family values. Rajshri Productions has refused to share the full story but early information suggests that the film looks at life after marriage from a different angle and looks to present a new look at family life in modern day India, and keep Barjatya’s emotional storytelling style.
Also, there is a reunion of Sooraj Barjatya and music composer Himesh Reshammiya. Himesh is a great songwriter with memorable melodies and should create an emotional soundtrack to accompany the movie’s emotional music. The songs will make sure everyone has their heart breaking.
As we speak, Indian actor Anupam Kher, who is part of the ensemble cast, has hailed Sooraj Barjatya as one of the great storytellers in Indian cinema. Kher has so much respect for the filmmaker’s ability to make family relations warm, simple and emotional, a quality that has been with Barjatya for decades.
Movie lovers are already excited about Ayushmann Khurrana's take on Prem, a character that has long been associated with timeless family entertainment in India. And while some people are impressed with the job that Ayushmann has taken to bring Prem to the mainstream, the film is very representative of home and brings that character to the younger generations and the younger generation (and even older generations) the film is very much about the new character.
