Vidya Balan could be the new face of Rise & Fall Season 2, as per recent reports. That is, reality show producers asked the actress to host it but Vidya Balan’s team and the show’s production team didn’t say whether she will be hosting or not.
If the reports come true, Vidya would have a different feel to reality television as she has a different look and a distinct screen presence and a sense of humour as well as a confident personality. From the television and other non-film industry she has a good reputation and she is a good choice for a reality-show presenter.
Rise & Fall is about the game of power, alliances and strategy. The show has to be about a host and the writer/host is the one who sets the tone of the show and it is when the contestants were eliminated, faced in confrontations and the plot got so crazy that nothing was funny. Vidya's involvement will give the second season a fresh look if she gets the offer.
However, it is important to note that the casting report is not confirmed. The reports are only that Vidya has been approached for the hosting role and they do not tell us about whether she has signed the project or will definitely be seen in the upcoming season.
Vidya would have a lot of options in reality-show hosting which will be another new chapter in her already diverse career. From the hit films Kahaani and The Dirty Picture to her recent commercial success with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 she has played with various genres and formats.
If she comes in then there could be a fun mix of Vidya’s wit, spontaneity and commanding personality with the competition of the show. She might also be able to bring in people who may not have followed the first season so closely.
For now, viewers will have to wait for an official announcement from the makers or Vidya Balan herself to get it together. Vidya hosting Rise & Fall 2 is a new report but not definitively confirmed.
