Mahesh Babu has celebrated his 51st birthday and his fans have got to witness the most beautiful new pictures from his much-anticipated project with director S.S. Rajamouli, Varanasi. The filmmaker has released a glimpse of Mahesh’s character Rudhra for the first time which gives a very close look at his character.

Rajamouli offered powerful images of Mahesh as Rudhra and described him as someone with wit, vulnerability and fierceness. The stills were shot during filming of the film in Africa (Kilimanjaro and Maasai Mara), and are big and ambitious and have drawn great attention to the project. The ruggedness of Mahesh has created great excitement among fans who hope to see him in this new avatar.
The birthday wishes came from many prominent personalities from the Indian film industry as well as from other renowned actors and actresses. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, playing the female lead Mandakini, and Jr NTR, Chiranjeevi and other major stars wished Mahesh all the best. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu even sent his best wishes to Mahesh on his birthday in recognition of the actor's popularity.

From international locations to elaborate production design and large-scale action sequences, Varanasi is expected to be Rajamouli’s trademark visual spectacle. The director’s past successes, like Baahubali and RRR, have created enormous expectations for his next venture.
The film will be released worldwide on 7 April 2027. For Mahesh Babu this will be a new step in his career as he moves on to a pan-Indian and international production with one of India’s most celebrated filmmakers.
