Ravi Teja’s upcoming film Irumudi director Shiva Nirvana has finally addressed the Ram Charan cameo speculation. With an Ayyappa Mala-based story and Ram Charan being so dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, there was speculation about whether he would make an appearance.

However, Shiva Nirvana has categorically clarified that Ram Charan is not part of Irumudi.
The film stars Ravi Teja and Priya Bhavani Shankar and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and is expected to release on August 21.
Shiva Nirvana Rules Out Ram Charan Cameo
As for the speculation, Shiva Nirvana acknowledged that Ram Charan's association with Ayyappa devotion may have led fans to expect his presence in the movie.
The director clarified that the actor does not appear in Irumudi.
According to Shiva, fans may have wanted Ram Charan in the film due to the Ayyappa Mala theme, but the actor has no cameo or special appearance in the project.
The filmmaker also said he hoped that Ram Charan would also enjoy the movie despite not being part of it.
This clarification is a sharp answer in terms of what could have been conjecture amongst fans right prior to the release of the movie.
Irumudi Is More Than an Ayyappa-Based Story
Although the Ayyappa Mala is the central setting for the movie, Shiva Nirvana explained that Irumudi is not simply a devotional film.
The director saw it as a family emotional drama that came complete with a crime story.
As he said, the devotional backdrop provided a powerful emotional foundation for developing the characters and their relationships. Mala Deeksha's discipline and devotion were also prevalent in the screenplay.
Shiva said his mission has always been to tell emotionally charged stories that remain with audiences long after they leave the theatre.
Director Experienced Ayyappa Traditions
To bring authenticity to Irumudi, Shiva Nirvana said he personally followed many aspects of the Ayyappa tradition during the preparation of the film.
The director revealed that he wore the Mala himself, visited Padipoojas, met Guruswamis, and visited Sabarimala to understand the traditions and practices more closely.
His personal experience gave him a sense of discipline and spiritual aspects of Mala Deeksha that he then brought to the characters and narrative.
This first-hand understanding was important because the story uses the Ayyappa Mala backdrop as a big part of its emotional world, said the filmmaker.
Ravi Teja Has Complete Freedom
Shiva Nirvana also talked about his leading man Ravi Teja and his style of filmmaking.
According to the director, Ravi Teja gives the filmmaker much freedom once he agrees with a story.
The actor’s trust in his director is said to have helped Shiva to implement his vision for Irumudi.
The film sets Shiva Nirvana in a different direction, as he has a reputation for emotionally charged films like Ninnu Kori, Majili and Kushi.
With Irumudi, he is attempting to combine emotional family drama with crime elements while setting the narrative against the distinctive backdrop of Ayyappa Mala Deeksha.
Mallepoola Pallaki Song Gets Special Attention
Shiva Nirvana also discussed the film's music and revealed details about the use of “Mallepoola Pallaki.”
The filmmaker said the team wanted to keep the authenticity of the song in place and brought back its original singer, Dappu Srinu, to record it.
The decision was made to keep the original flavor of the song but to include it in the world of Irumudi.
Why is the film called Irumudi?
The director has also explained why Irumudi was selected for the title.
Shiva says that the title points to three important connections in the story. It is the father and daughter relationship, the connection between an Ayyappa devotee and the Mala, and the crime element, which is another part of the story.
This layered meaning is intended to reflect the film’s combination of family feelings, devotion and crime.
Irumudi Set for August 21 Release
Irumudi is one of the upcoming Telugu movies generating interest among moviegoers with Ravi Teja and Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead.
The clarification of Ram Charan's cameo should put fan speculation to rest. The superstar will not be present in the movie, but Shiva Nirvana is hoping audiences relate to the emotional and dramatic movie he is writing and the emotional and dramatic story he is trying to tell.
For now, Irumudi's theatrical launch on August 21 will test the director's unusual combination of family drama, crime and Ayyappa Mala traditions.
