Suneil Anand had a heart attack in London on July 26. His family confirmed his death through an official statement issued by his niece, requesting privacy as they grieve the loss.

Suneil Anand was born on June 30, 1956, in Zurich, Switzerland, as the son of the great actor-filmmaker Dev Anand and the actor Kalpana Kartik. Although he was from one of the most famous families of Hindi cinema, his life was rather private and he kept away from the limelight for much of his life.

Suneil made his acting debut in 1984 with "Anand Aur Anand," a film that was staged by his father Dev Anand and also stars Dev Anand, Raakhee, and Smita Patil. The film introduced him to the audience, but it didn't go as well as many had expected. He appeared in movies like "Car Thief," "Master," and “Main Tere Liye,” but he gradually stopped doing so.

Besides acting, Suneil Anand was also associated with the Anand family’s celebrated Navketan Films banner and helped continue the movie legacy of his father. He kept away from public life mostly, and until now, he was still regarded as one of India's most influential film families.

His father Dev Anand is one of the great legends of Indian cinema and has produced classics like Guide, Jewel Thief, CID, Johny Mera Naam, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, and Kala Pani. Many awards for Dev Anand and Indian films were given to him in Indian cinema, including the Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

After Suneil Anand’s death, the film fraternity and fans were in mourning, and the Anand family’s contribution to Hindi cinema was much appreciated. Many talked about his quiet nature and the deep-rooted influence on Indian cinema to date.

The family has accepted the love, care, and empathy of everyone at their loss, they said, and that they ask for privacy.

Suneil Anand’s death is the end of another chapter in the story of the great Anand family. Even if he went into a more private path than his legendary father, he was a member of the family, and so is the influence of this great cinema family on generations of filmmakers, actors, and movie lovers around the world.
