Kangana Ranaut is one of Bollywood’s most vocal personalities, whether it is on the industry practices or at the movies to criticize the actors and the filmmakers in public she’s never held back from speaking out.
In the last few decades she’s got involved in some of the biggest controversies in the Hindi film industry.
One of Bollywood’s biggest controversies is her public spat with Hrithik Roshan. Kangana called Hrithik ‘silly ex’ in an interview and fought a legal battle and sent emails and statements.
The drama dominated entertainment headlines for months and is still one of Bollywood’s biggest controversies.
Kangana has also repeatedly criticized filmmaker Karan Johar, saying he promotes nepotism in Bollywood. Her famous TV talk show performance in which she referred to Karan as the “flag bearer of nepotism” caused a national debate about outsiders’ entry into the film industry.
Alia Bhatt has also been among Kangana’s targets. Kangana has critiqued Alia’s movies, what she calls the industry’s preference for star kids; she has criticized Alia’s performances, movie choices and so forth.
Alia has so far avoided direct confrontations, but the exchanges have generated a lot of talk on social media.
Kangana has also hit Ranbir Kapoor with her words. She has criticized his silence on political and social aspects and has criticized double standards in the way celebrities are judged by the media.
Deepika Padukone has been another celebrity that Kangana publicly has disagreed with. Their differences came out at different awards seasons and later on at times about mental health awareness and the recognition that has had in the industry.
Kangana has also exchanged harsh words with Taapsee Pannu often calling her a “B-grade actress” and accusing her of mimicking her career choices. Taapsee has also responded several times and has had a long-running online war of words between them.
Kangana also criticizes the filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt for previous work experiences. Similarly, actress Swara Bhasker has often disagreed with Kangana's political and social views, and there have been several public exchanges.
Diljit Dosanjh and Kangana had a long-running social media feud during the farmers' protests and both celebrities were widely discussed on social media.
Javed Akhtar, a veteran lyricist, also had a legal dispute with Kangana after their differences became public through interviews and public statements.
Kangana Ranaut’s very public personality is so much more than Bollywood, she’s one of the most charismatic Bollywood actors and actresses out there. She has her fans and her critics who are both very vocal and say her public statements are very ugly and cause so much trouble.
A while back she would become so often very vocal and the media would always be so critical of her, she would say that she's in a very public space, so there’s no reason to be arrogant.
