A grateful actor Ananya Panday has also extended her support to protesting students via a passionate social media post, calling Generation Z to challenge long-standing norms and push for change. The actor’s post has attracted much attention online with many thanking her for being in solidarity with the young voices.

In her post, Ananya weighed in on stereotypes that are so common for Gen Z, writing, "Gen Z has always been viewed as being mean… not all of them have been kind. But maybe this moment is reminding us of who this generation really is. A generation that’s no longer willing to accept, ‘this is how it’s always been.’”

She also emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue and civic engagement and said, “Questioning isn’t disrespect. Speaking up isn’t rebellion. It’s hope. It’s belief that things can be better.” And so many social media users saw (and felt) her message as a message for a more peaceful expression and democratic engagement.

The actor’s comments come at a time when student-led protests have attracted national attention; discussions over issues affecting young people in educational institutions are still hot and cold. Ananya didn’t mention a protest or political issue in her speech but the message was empathy, listening to young people’s voices, and recognizing their dreams for a better future.

In the immediate response on social media, after the post, social media platforms erupted with a tidal wave of reactions. Ananya’s followers praised Ananya for using her platform to bring attention to young people’s concerns and have meaningful conversations about social issues and to build up the platform through which to express young people’s views and to make a difference in the conversation and to help people’s issues in a way that they are not only young people’s voices heard and listened to but the way that it was, and the ideas of A.J.S. A.N. A. Aali.

Ananya Panday has previously been on the record talking about mental health, confidence and the pressures young people face in today’s digital age. By challenging the conventional order of things and getting involved in conversations, she is continuing that conversation.

The discussion has also brought attention to the changing nature of Gen Z as a force for social and cultural storytelling. Many users shared Ananya’s assertion that today’s youth are more willing to question what’s accepted and take responsibility and demand that change come from our youth and be inclusive for all.

As conversations are continuing across social media, Ananya’s comments are part of a larger conversation on youth participation, freedom of expression, and listening to the next generation. It’s as a call to solidarity as it is a call to dialogue— and her words have probably resonated with many young Indians.
