A veteran actor Anupam Kher has paid tribute to the legendary New Zealand actor Sam Neill who died at the age of 78. Kher spoke of Neill as being a great actor but also a nice man who was humble and kind and warm.

On social media, Anupam Kher expressed his deepest sadness at the loss of the actor and recalled the privilege of meeting him during a visit to Sydney. He said, in contrast to Sam Neill’s impressive career and his warm nature and kind nature we have always found him to be his most passionate admirer, it was his gentle nature and kindness that stayed with him.
Kher also reflected on his long admiration for Neill’s vast output of work and the versatile and quiet strength he brought to every role. He discussed some of the actor’s most epochal films including My Brilliant Career, The Piano, Jurassic Park, The Hunt for Red October, and so many others that made him one of the best actors of his generation.
Kher wrote in his emotional message that while some actors impress audiences with their performances, others leave a lasting impression simply by their presence. Sam Neill was both of them, and so rare in the world of cinema at that, he explained.
"The world of cinema has lost an extraordinary artist, and the world has lost a wonderful gentleman," Kher said, and he expressed his sympathy to Neill’s family, his friends and millions of admirers around the world. He concluded his tribute with: “Rest in peace, dear Sam. Om Shanti."
Sam Neill became a global icon for playing Dr. Alan Grant in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park - a role that brought generations of people to meet one of cinema's most popular characters. Neill has also had an amazing career, in film, television and theatre beyond the biggest movie.
When he died, filmmakers, actors and fans were quick to shower him with tributes. Not only did he have a lot to do with cinema but he was a great person as well and he was humble, kind and professional.
Anupam Kher’s tribute is testament to the respect Sam Neill received from his colleagues all over the world. And while his unforgettable performances will be the new ones on YouTube for generations to come, people who did meet him will really come to know him.
Sam Neill’s legacy is still felt throughout the world as many film stars have lost one of their greatest actors and now his work is a massive loss to the world of cinema and Sam Neill will not be forgotten for these films will live on through his films and millions of lives we get to see and touch in cinema forever.
