Manoj Bajpayee has praised Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe for his straightforward approach to carrying out his responsibilities, but the actor’s comments have also raised a larger question about why basic honesty and dedication at work have become unusual enough to attract celebrity-level attention.

The reaction to the actor’s response says a lot about society, too, he said. He said that when a person becomes a celebrity just because they carry out their job in a professional way and are honest, it doesn’t seem so ordinary.
"This simply means that when someone is doing their duty with complete honesty, he becomes a celebrity. And that itself tells us where we, as a society, have reached," Bajpayee said.
