At Salman Khan’s residence, a 41-year-old Mumbai Police constable who was on duty with the actor's security detail suddenly fell ill and died instantly. The police officer Ganesh, who was on duty at Salman Khan’s home, was outside the actor’s home now in the midst of the increased security measures that are in place around the celebrity. The constable fell ill and was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility, senior Mumbai Police officials say. Although he was declared brought dead by responders and medical personnel very soon, it seems early police assessments are not convinced that it was a heart attack.
The unfortunate incident occurs under the shadow of over-the-top security arrangements for Salman Khan who is affectionately referred to as the Bhaijaan of Bollywood and has been under high security cover due to persistent and serious threats directed at him, with the incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as a suspect. The security issues have always existed, and this is largely due to the blackbuck poaching incident of the 1990s and has placed Salman Khan in the proximity of criminal forces in his everyday life and the vicinity of his house.
The need for strong security measures was underscored in April 2024 when the actor’s Galaxy Apartments residence in the high-end Bandra area of Mumbai was attacked. There are no rumors about who really did it; two unknown people on a motorcycle drove to the location and opened fire several times in the open, sending shock waves through the film community and even the public. This kind of brazen attack led to a huge multi-state police investigation, and the shooting was tied to the complex criminal network with Lawrence Bishnoi in mind as the actor was threatened. So security was put in place, and his movements were kept in check, with armed personnel watching him everywhere whether he was traveling or appearing in public.
Salman Khan has previously talked about the mental and practical stress of living under such high levels of security, even if he has been in Mumbai for a decade now. The veteran actor talked to the media about the difficulty of living a life with a heavy security entourage and how it’s difficult to travel around freely. But being a very spiritual person, he says he doesn’t want to live in fear; he’s just a man who is going to trust God with everything. He said to journalists that he knows his fate to be his fate and still he can do what he’d been asked to do as a professional in the film industry despite the persistent security challenges.
