Nikita Rawal has stirred up the fire in the Ramayana movie on the part of Nitesh Tiwari, asking Ranbir Kapoor to apologise for his past comment about eating beef before he plays Lord Ram in the movies. Her comments have reignited online debates about the actor’s casting in one of Bollywood’s biggest movies.

What did Nikita Rawal say?

In recent interviews, Nikita Rawal said Lord Ram is not only a mythological character but is a very revered one for millions of Hindus. She said if Ranbir Kapoor’s comment in years past hurt Hindu sentiments, he should apologise before the film is released. She also questioned his choice to portray Lord Ram, because actors who have got to play such iconic religious roles should be cognizant of their feelings.

The Old Remark That Resurfaced.

The controversy stems from an old interview in which Ranbir Kapoor described himself as a “big beef guy.” The comment has come up again many times over the years, especially when discussions around his portrayal of Lord Ram in Ramayana are on the rise.

Recently there has been speculation that Ranbir had adopted lifestyle changes while training for the role, but once again the latest debate has re-enacted his earlier statement.

Ranbir Kapoor Responded To Casting Criticism.

Ranbir Kapoor earlier commented on the criticism over his role as Lord Ram. He said people have different interpretations of the revered character and there is “no fixed face” for Lord Ram, and that he is confident in director Nitesh Tiwari’s vision for the film.

Contemporary views of the industry are divided. While some people are questioning the casting, others—the actress Dipika Chikhalia, who played Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s TV Ramayan—have publicly backed Ranbir’s ability as an actor to play the role.

No official response to the latest demand

As of today, Ranbir Kapoor and the makers of Ramayana have not publicly responded to Nikita Rawal’s latest demand for an apology. The film remains one of the biggest upcoming Indian productions, with Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi portraying Sita, and Yash playing Ravana.
