Their work will be evaluated by an influential jury of fashion stars.
Among the jury are designers and industry leaders like Jonathan Anderson, Sarah Burton, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo and Pharrell Williams.
The winner of the Karl Lagerfeld Prize will receive €200,000 and a year-long mentorship programme.
The initiative will give the winning designer practical guidance in business management, marketing, production, communication, sustainability and intellectual property.
