Ramayana Controversy? Mukesh Khanna Questions Rama-Ravana Screen Presence
The much awaited Ramayana: Part 1 - The Introduction has been a big hit with filmgoers and film lovers after the release of its trailer. The mythological epic, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana, is among the most eagerly awaited Indian movies.
The trailer has attracted much attention for its grand scale and visual effects, but the film's veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has raised questions as to how the two central characters are being portrayed in the movie.
Khanna, who has done TV adaptations of Indian epic films, has before criticized Ranbir Kapoor's casting as Lord Rama. In his previous comments, he said that the portrayal of Ravana should not overshadow Rama in a movie based on Ramayana. His comments have added to the public debate on the casting and visual treatment of the epic.

Khanna says strong scenes, memorable dialogues, and strong characterisation are the three things that would do a lot to enhance a good actor’s screen presence.

After Animal, Khanna also addressed Ranbir Kapoor's image and wished the actor to have a totally different screen persona as Lord Rama. Khanna said he hoped this image wouldn't influence people’s perception of Kapoor as Rama.
