Rani Mukerji’s story’s emotional resonance and her own journey as a girl born and brought up in Mumbai was so emotional for her.

She has been an Indian film actress for almost three decades and has played a lot of roles in Bollywood from romantic dramas and mainstream Bollywood to strong female characters.

Rani acknowledged the award and talked about her love and connection to Maharashtra.

She described the state as her birthplace and workplace and how Mumbai has influenced her life and movie making. She also spoke on cinema as a very emotional thing, not just a job.

Rani also gave her acceptance speech in Marathi, which was well received by the audience.

She recalled growing up in Mumbai and living a different life in the city during her teenage years.

She dedicated the honour to the people of Maharashtra and artists, technicians, directors and the film industry who have contributed to cinema as a whole.

The Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award is part of the Maharashtra State Film Awards and honours significant contributions to Indian cinema.

Rani’s recognition this year places her among the notable personalities celebrated by the Maharashtra government for their contribution to the film industry.

The 62nd Maharashtra State Film Awards also honored several other well-known names from the world of cinema.

The Chitrapati V. Shantaram Special Contribution Award was awarded to director Prasad Oak and the veteran screenwriter Salim Khan received the Award of Old School Screenwriting.

Rani Mukerji’s latest distinction is another great achievement for her career.

But more than just a recognition of her filmography, the award also showed that she still had a relationship with Mumbai and Maharashtra, the places she feels are at the centre of her film career.
