Yash’s Toxic Crosses ₹328 Crore Worldwide; Hindi Version Leads Day 9 Collections as English Release Begins
Toxic continues to dominate the global box office for Rockstar Yash. While there was a slowdown on weekdays, the film has already crossed ₹328 crore globally in nine days, which shows that Yash is one of India’s biggest pan-Indian stars.
Toxic opened to huge hype across domestic markets and abroad, directed by Geetu Mohandas. The film created history on its first day by grossing around ₹150 crore worldwide, which is the biggest opening for an Indian movie to date. And because it was such a massive opening weekend, collections naturally dropped off a bit, but the movie has been a consistent hit in all languages.
The global collection reaches ₹328 crore
Toxic has earned an estimated ₹328 crore worldwide gross as of Day 9. In India, the film’s total net collection is ₹239.30 crore, and the domestic gross collection is ₹285.70 crore.
The movie’s overseas success has also been instrumental. International markets have produced an estimated ₹42.75 crore gross, and the movie has had a good global hit even in its second week.
Trade participants say that the film’s opening weekend numbers are down a bit, but the movie remains one of the best-performing films on the list.
Day 9 Collection Remains Stable
Toxic earned around ₹4.25 crore net from over 10,863 shows on its ninth day in cinemas, which is much lower than its record opening numbers but proves that even after more than a week in cinemas, the film still has a lot of audience in India.
The overseas market added around ₹1 crore gross on Day 9, even increasing the film’s international total even more.
Industry analysts say that the movie’s second weekend could also have another boost, especially if the audience footfalls on Saturdays and Sundays increase.
Hindi Version Still Has a Lead
One of the biggest contributors to Toxic's box office performance has been from the Hindi-speaking market. Of the Day 9 collections of ₹4.25 crore net, the Hindi version was the biggest contributor.
The language-wise breakdown of Day 9 collections is as follows:
- Hindi: ₹2.85 crore net
- Kannada: ₹1.04 crore net
- Telugu: ₹20 lakh net
- Tamil: ₹15 lakh net
- Malayalam: ₹1 lakh net
The numbers show the film’s strong acceptance in North India, which has become more common for Yash in the wake of the spectacular success of the KGF franchise.
While Kannada is the film’s home market, the Hindi belt still plays a big role in driving nationwide collections.
English Version Released Worldwide
For a new dimension to the film’s theatrical run, Toxic will be released in English on September 4. This move is to increase the film’s reach internationally and to non-Indian audiences.
When the English version is released in the international market, it will build up the movie’s overseas business, especially in countries that have seen dubbed Indian films rise. If the English version is received positively by foreign audiences, then the film’s worldwide revenues could be considerably higher in the coming days.
Strong Weekend Expected
While show counts and occupancy rates dropped during the weekdays, trade experts expect collections to recover over the second weekend. Good word-of-mouth, Yash’s star power, and the new English version’s release could help the film attract new audiences.
Toxic's consistency of performances across South Indian and North Indian markets is further evidence of the global reach of Yash. And with ₹328 crore in hand and one more weekend to go, the film will continue its successful box office run and score more milestones.
