Aishwarya Sindhogi filed a police report for continuous harassment on social media. She has also pointed out that fake social media accounts have been used to send abusive messages and post defamatory comments against her.
Aishwarya experienced repeated online harassment for some time, the complaint said. Anonymous accounts have been sending offensive comments and sending inappropriate messages, causing her mental distress and affecting her personal and professional life.
The actress has been suspicious of Mannath Nakul, a family friend and acquaintance. Aishwarya said that she believes he might be behind the fake accounts that she claimed were being used to harass her online. But these are allegations in the complaint, and no conclusions have been reached by the investigating authorities.
Based on the complaint, the Sanjaynagar Police have filed a case under Section 66C of the Information Technology Act, which deals with identity theft and the fraudulent use of electronic identities.
