Modha Rathri’s countdown has officially started and the much awaited Tamil film will go to theatres around the world on August 21, 2026. With just two days to go before it will be released, the Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar led cast is waiting for the film to come out and it's going to be a comedy, drama, mystery and chaotic family situations.
Modha Rathri is directed by debutant Raja Karuppasamy and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar. Bharath Sankar is the music composer and Surendran Paranjothi is the cinematographer and Ashok Arjunan is responsible for editing.
At the heart of the movie are Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar, who are the lead actors and actresses, and are portrayed as dealing with marriage, family expectations and a series of events as they arrive on their first night of their relationship.

Their presence adds to the ensemble nature of the film and can further the family-entertainer aspect of it.
Music is also key to Modha Rathri. Bharath Sankar, who has worked on films like Maaveeran, has composed the soundtrack. His music will add to the rural setting and emotional as well as comic scenes of the film.

It has also received a U/A certificate and a censorship certificate and there is one more hurdle to clear before it is released. Now the certification is complete and the movie is in its final push for promotion before being released in cinemas.
Modha Rathri will face competition at the box office, with several other South Indian films also arriving around the same weekend. But the movie has made its own identity in a wedding-based rural comedy and mystery-driven story.
