Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is still generating good box office numbers and continues to grow on a daily basis. On Day 5, Geetu Mohandas directorial earned about ₹23 crore net in India, and its five-day India net collection is around ₹214.10 crore. The film's India gross is around ₹255.95 crore and its worldwide gross is around ₹285.20 crore, which is very close to the ₹300-crore global mark.
But the Day 5 performance also suggests that the film is losing a little momentum because of its huge opening. Toxic had a record ₹101.10 crore net in India on its opening day, but collections dropped in the next few days as the film collected ₹37.65 crore on Day 2, ₹27.20 crore on Day 3 and ₹25.15 crore on Day 4 before dropping to ₹23 crore on its first Sunday. The Day 5 figure represents roughly 8.5% less than Saturday's earnings.
₹300 Crore Worldwide Milestone in Sight
The biggest positive for Toxic is its huge cumulative total. With the worldwide gross already around ₹285.20 crore after five days in play, the movie needs around ₹14.80 crore more to get to ₹300 crore.
The milestone could be reached very soon if the film receives reasonable occupancy during the weekdays. Yash would also be able to cross ₹300 crore worldwide in the first week. The film has been released in many languages and markets.
The worldwide figure includes about ₹255.95 crore from India and around ₹29.25 crore from overseas markets, according to trade-tracking estimates.
India Collection Crosses ₹200 Crore
Toxic has already crossed the ₹200-crore mark in India's net box office collections. The five-day net total of ₹214.10 crore puts the film among the year's major theatrical performers.
The domestic performance has been driven by the film released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The Hindi version has contributed to India collections considerably, while the Kannada version has much higher occupancy percentages.
On Day 5, the Hindi version earned about ₹14.50 crore net from India, while the Kannada version contributed ₹6.40 crore. Telugu added ₹1.40 crore, Tamil ₹0.60 crore and Malayalam ₹0.10 crore.
Kannada Version Shows Strong Occupancy
Although the overall collection trend has been downwards, the Kannada version is still seeing a good occupancy in some of the markets. On Day 5, the Kannada version had an overall occupancy of around 52.09% compared to the Hindi version's 29.58%.
Bengaluru remained one of the most important markets for the Kannada version, while cities like Shivamogga, Tumakuru and Raichur were also showing very good occupancy levels. As a result, Yash has a lot of support in his home market.
At the same time, the Hindi version has helped Toxic reach a much broader national audience. Its huge number of shows across Hindi-speaking markets has contributed substantially to the film’s overall domestic total.
From ₹101 Crore Opening to ₹23 Crore on Day 5
Toxic’s opening day and its fifth day are among the most talked about aspects of its box office journey.
The movie started with an estimated ₹101.10 crore India net, and was immediately one of the year’s biggest openers. Since then, the film’s daily collections have been dropping consistently.
The trend was ₹37.65 crore on Day 2, ₹27.20 crore on Day 3, ₹25.15 crore on Day 4 and ₹23 crore on Day 5. The decline is significant, but the film has still sustained a large daily collection because of its enormous audience pull.
Toxic will now be challenged to keep things together on the weekdays. If the film is strong enough, it will be able to make a lot more money before it gets a lot of competition from new releases.
