The film opened to huge expectations, with Yash’s popularity as the KGF franchise has been successful. Toxic had a huge opening of more than ₹100 crore net in India right now and it was among the major releases of the year. The film suffered a big drop off the next day and picked up a bit over the weekend.

Toxic had reached ₹229.95 crore in India net, and a worldwide gross of ₹313 crore by the end of the first week. The film’s worldwide success has also helped to add to the worldwide number and it will end the first week with a worldwide gross of around ₹313.55 crore.

The film is still adding to its domestic total on Day 8. Live tracking showed that Toxic collected around ₹1.19 crore net in India by the time of the latest update, taking its total net in India to ₹230.79 crore. The final number on the day could change as more shows and regions are accounted for.

The Day 8 performance is important because the film is now in a phase where its weekday stability will decide how far it can go. After the initial rush surrounding its release, Toxic got fewer numbers on its weekday numbers including a single-digit collection on its first Monday. But Tuesday saw a modest improvement. Its earnings increased by around 7.2% compared with Monday.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic stars Yash in the lead role alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth. It is a mix of action, gangster drama and a stylised period setting; Yash is the central character in which most of the film takes place.

The movie’s box office performance has also been mixed. The film’s scale, action sequences, visual presentation and Yash’s screen presence have attracted audiences, but critics and audiences have had mixed reactions. Nevertheless, its robust initial performance and continued theatrical success suggest the pull of Yash for cinema audiences.

With ₹230.79 crore already collected in India net, the immediate target for Toxic is the ₹250 crore milestone. As a result, the film will need to fetch around ₹19 crore more to reach that number. How it will hold on to this momentum in its second weekend will be crucial to its chances of going beyond ₹250 crore.

The worldwide numbers also show that the film has a good commercial foundation. Toxic will now attempt to build on the global lead in the first week of its launch as it enters its second weekend. The film's box office performance abroad will be key, as well as the box office collections from the Indian language versions.

Yash sees the film as his return to the big screen after the huge success of KGF: Chapter 2. Toxic hasn't followed the same trajectory at every stage of its box office run, but its opening and first-week numbers demonstrate the star's ability to attract audiences in large numbers.

As the second weekend gets closer, the attention will be put on whether Toxic can grow occupancy and daily earnings. If the film continues to perform well, then the ₹250 crore India net hit is likely to happen. The movie will be judged in the coming days and will no doubt become a long-term success for Yash’s film if it can carry it to the box office.
