Toxic is an unusual gangster action film (with Geetu Mohandas). Yash’s presence not only drew attention but also the scale and the expectations for this film. While some are fans of its unorthodox style, others have raised questions about the narrative, runtime, and treatment of some characters.

In this context, the reaction of Upendra has added another significant voice to the conversation. The actor-filmmaker watched the film and shared his thoughts on X, previously known as Twitter. Upendra did not take on the criticism of the project (it’s a movie) and praised the effort of the cast and technicians.

Upendra calls Toxic A ‘New World’

Upendra expressed his review in Kannada and English and said Toxic was a completely different movie to him. He liked the film’s setting and appreciated the passion of everyone involved in bringing it to the screen.

“TOXIC IS A FAIRY TALE …. BUT GROWN-UPS?? Watched Toxic. Wow! What a movie! A new world and an entirely new experience! The hard work, dedication, and passion of every artist and technician are truly commendable! Hats off to Yash and the entire team!” Upendra wrote.

Toxic has had a lot of discussion since it was released. The film was big in scale and also an ambitious project for Yash as he’s become the biggest actor in Indian cinema after the success of the KGF franchise.

Upendra’s endorsement also underlines the support that the film has received from sections of the Kannada film fraternity. Yash as the lead actor was not the only reason for his appreciation but the artists and technicians working on the movie as well.

R Chandru also extends support to Yash.

Upendra’s comments came shortly after filmmaker R Chandru voiced his support for Toxic and Yash. Chandru, who has also directed Kabzaa, urged audiences to take a look at the size and effort behind the project.

As for Yash, Chandru outlined Toxic as an ambitious cinematic venture and not just another commercial release. Members of the Kannada film industry believe that projects that seek something new and not so conventional deserve support and encouragement.

The presence of popular Kannada personalities like Upendra and R Chandru is a big help in a culture where discussions around Toxic are still at the center of conversation among moviegoers. A lot of critical opinions may differ, but the film’s ambition and visual display are central.

Yash And Upendra Share A Kannada Cinema Connection

Upendra and Yash have also crossed paths before; it brings a new dimension to the current story. In 2024, Yash and his wife Radhika Pandit went to an event to watch Upendra’s dystopian science-fiction film UI.

Yash’s presence at the event attracted much attention, mostly from Kannada cinema fans. The two stars represent diverse generations and styles in the industry, but both have helped to spread Kannada films beyond Karnataka.

Now that Upendra himself has publicly acknowledged Toxic, his words will resonate with Yash’s fans and supporters of the project. At the same time, the mixed response shows that the film has clearly set off a conversation but not gone ignored.

Toxic is another big step for Yash, after the national impact of KGF: Chapter 1 and KGF: Chapter 2. For Geetu Mohandas and the rest of the creative team, the film is an attempt to establish a distinct cinematic identity within the action genre.

As discussions surrounding the movie continue, Upendra’s warm response indicates confidence from one of the best actor-filmmakers at the top of Kannada cinema, in terms of the film. The extent to which Toxic will ultimately resonate with audiences is up to individual taste, but it’s clear that the movie has become a major talking point in the industry.
