The much-wanted ‘Drishyam’ franchise will continue with a fourth film in the near future and fans will have to wait for the film to see one of Malayalam cinema’s most celebrated thriller movies at last.
Producer Antony Perumbavoor has said another chapter of the franchise will be made and it will be announced at the Mazhavil Manorama Awards. Mohanlal’s iconic character Georgekutty will be present and fans are excited all the more.
The news comes just a couple months after the movie Drishyam 3 was released on May 21, 2026 in the cinema halls. The third film continued Georgekutty and his family story and it was a hit at the box office, crossing ₹100 crore within days of release of the movie. Now that the movie is doing so well, the franchise will have another chapter.
Antony Perumbavoor's announcement is very significant because he has been associated with the franchise from the beginning. Speaking at the awards event, the producer assured audiences there would definitely be a fourth film. Jeethu Joseph was also present during the announcement, and Mohanlal was there in the present day.
The ‘Drishyam’ franchise was started in 2013 with Mohanlal playing Georgekutty, an ordinary family man, caught up in the most extraordinary of circumstances. Jeethu Joseph produced and wrote the original film as a strong story, suspense and emotional aspect, based on family. And the story went on to be a successful one and a second film was made in 2021 and the third one in 2026.
The biggest reason for the upcoming fourth movie being very much a part of it will be Mohanlal as Georgekutty going back to his character of Mohanlal. The character is one of the most recognizable ones in contemporary Indian thriller cinema and more than ever, we know in recent years, so many of us can watch him protect his family and keep our attention on their lives as he works to do so while also being in these ever more complicated situations.
But fans could have to wait for more concrete details. The producer has confirmed that a release date, shooting schedule, and plot details have not yet been provided. Jeethu Joseph has also repeatedly stressed the importance of telling a great story rather than getting the franchise back in again just because it is a billion dollar empire.

The film was remade in Hindi and Telugu as well and the central story was also appreciated internationally. It is now one of the most well-known thriller properties of Indian regional cinema.
