Malayalam actor Vinayakan, who has been known for his powerful performances in Jailer and Marco, has been arrested for allegedly sharing an eight-year-old girl’s picture on social media. Police are investigating the case after the child’s family filed a complaint against him, the child’s family said.
According to reports, the case was registered at Mavelikara in Kerala's Alappuzha district after the father of the girl approached Kerala State Commission for Child Rights. The commission had examined the complaint and ordered the local police to take appropriate legal action, leading to the registration of the case against the actor.
Vinayakan posted the photo of the young girl on an online site without permission from her parents, the complaint says. The father, who declined to name himself, said the child’s picture was unauthorized and the child’s privacy was violated and that the safety and protection of the child in the digital space was at stake.
