Mohanlal is one of the most celebrated actor-filmmakers of the Indian film industry and indeed the future for him is bright. While he is working on six movies in the pipeline.
Mohanlal has seven more going to be produced in the near future. This is extremely promising as many of these are working with some of the best directors in the industry and he has a proven ability to work with a vast array of stories and genres.
Tharun Moorthy, Vishnu Mohan, Priyadarshan, Dileesh Pothan, Sathyan Anthikad, Jude Anthany Joseph, and Jeethu Joseph were among the directors that he worked with during his long film career. The anticipation of these releases is almost as much a festival as for Mohanlal to work with them and the filmmakers is very good.
Currently, the film is being marketed as Athimanoharam (L366) which will see Mohanlal reunited with the director Tharun Moorthy after Thudarum film. It is not only directed by Ashiq Usman but also screenplay by Ratheesh Ravi. In this film, Mohanlal plays the character of T.S. Lovelajan, the very devoted police officer, and the extremely talented actress Meera Jasmine plays the chief of staff. The project is moving along and fans and industry experts are waiting for its release date in the Christmas season of 2026.
Athimanoharam will be released on December 24, 2026. The movie will be released on Christmas holiday which is one of the most important times of the year for Malayalam cinema in which big releases are made and big studios come out in large numbers. The movie is already shot in Pampa where the film is situated near the famous Sabarimala and the production team is working out some conditions to get the atmosphere of the place. Mohanlal's December release will make for a great movie.
Following the buzz of Athimanoharam, another project which is getting much attention is L367 with Mohanlal and Vishnu Mohan, who have already made his film Meppadiyan. This film has been announced in October and it has received a lot of attention with such a compelling concept. It’s based on the actual story of Operation Ganga which was an Indian evacuation mission during the war between Russia and Ukraine. And while nothing is known about the story and production plan for it, this film will be one of the most eagerly awaited movies of Mohanlal in the next years.
Another project on the horizon is Mohanlal's collaboration with the great filmmaker Priyadarshan. This is Priyadarshan's 100th directorial film, and that is a landmark in his film career. Mohanlal and Priyadarshan have had a good collaboration in their lives for many years and this is the first one for Malayalam cinema fans.
Aside from these projects, Mohanlal is also going to be working with the great director Dileesh Pothan on a new film Nedumkandam Miracle. This film marks Mohanlal’s first film with Dileesh Pothan being all about learning and developing character in his first film, as an actor and director.
Syam Pushkaran and Paulson Skaria's screenplay is of the talented duo and so is the cinematography of Shyju Khalid and music composed by the ever-creative Sushin Shyam. Mohanlal is a perfect fit to join Dileesh Pothan's first movie as a director, considering Pothan's renowned ability to create new stories with new characters.
Also, Mohanlal has another collaboration with the veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad in his coming batch of films. The two have worked together on a number of projects in the past that include family relationships, everyday life, and emotional storytelling. It’s a return to family relationships, everyday life, and emotional storytelling all about this time in their relationship that can be made up of all that they have worked on together.
Jude Anthany Joseph is also going to be a part of Mohanlal’s future projects. So this project is very special for Mohanlal since it connects Mohanlal to Thudakkam and in the process introduces his daughter Vismaya Mohanlal as an actor. The fact that Jude Anthany Joseph is connected to this film helps make it exciting, especially since Jude Anthany Joseph is a filmmaker in the film industry.
The seventh big project in Mohanlal's repertoire is with the highly celebrated director Jeethu Joseph, who has made the immensely popular Drishyam movies. This collaboration has already attracted a lot of attention from fans; there is no news about the project. Mohanlal’s working with Jeethu Joseph is another person in the very long list of great filmmakers and we expect him to be very much watched in the future as well.

Mohanlal’s movies, as opposed to being limited to one genre or style, are not confined to one type of movie and that’s why everyone is looking forward to his movies.
Mohanlal has also worked on a Telugu language film other than the seven Malayalam films. He has always worked with Malayalam films throughout his long career but because he is working in a variety of languages, he is now considered a national actor. But with a broad-based background and an all-around filmography, Mohanlal remains one of the biggest stars of Malayalam cinema.
As “Athimanoharam” is the one that is most of the present priority with a release date of Christmas 2026, fans are hopeful about the next projects with L367 and the other announced collaborations. With seven different projects from directors of different creative backgrounds, Mohanlal and his fans will enjoy a rollercoaster film journey to come.

With Jeethu Joseph and Priyadarshan being friends and new filmmakers Dileesh Pothan and Vishnu Mohan and other new films to work with all around him is all the more exciting and new, and the audience has a lot of anticipation for these movies in the future of Mohanlal's films.
