The announcement was accompanied by a touching teaser that said: ‘Adhoori mohabbat ki kahaani ko poora karne, yeh musafir wapas lautenge’ - the emotional essence of the show. While the creators have kept details of the plot and characters’ trajectories secret for the time being, the teaser suggests that the next episodes will delve further into the unresolved romantic conflicts and decisions from the first one.

For the uninitiated, Musafir Cafe is about Chander Mohan Sharma, played by Vikrant Massey, a serene café owner in the hills whose tranquil existence is turned upside down. His life is changed abruptly, though, when his former girlfriend Sudha Tripathi’s (Vedika Pinto) name comes back into the scene after eight years. And the way Chander and Sudha’s love story has been portrayed in the past, and also now that he’s married to Preeti (Mahima Makwana) who has supported him through thick and thin, is one of the best. The flashbacks, which are carefully kept in chronological order, let you see how misunderstandings, career choices and emotional distance have torn the old couple apart and Chander questions whether he’s really trying to bury his feelings and move on.

Season 1 ended on a very emotional cliffhanger that left Chander’s decision very ambiguous. Both Chander and Sudha came to terms with their painful past and it was clear that the feelings that they had for each other after years of separation were still lingering. As Sudha was preparing for a permanent move to Singapore with her boyfriend Vineet, Chander was still feeling bereft of closure at their recent breakup. Preeti, too, was oblivious to Chander’s feelings, and thought she had a marriage ring. The ending came when Vineet turned up in Mussoorie to surprise Sudha and Chander was left to face the ghost of his past and the reality of his present life and it was a solid basis for the drama in Season 2.
