Netflix will air its highly anticipated military drama Operation Safed Sagar: The Highest Air Force Mission on Aug. 7th, a story about one of the most difficult missions of the Indian Air Force in the 1999 Kargil War - which is the story of a war’s most difficult missions that the military was in. The series is inspired by the untold history of the legendary Golden Arrows Squadron and so is a story inspired by the courage and sacrifice and precision of Indian air force soldiers that is a critical moment in India’s military history that we must be proud to see in this country’s history.
Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava created the series and directed by Oni Sen. The cast includes Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill and Abhay Verma. Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin and Amrita Bagchi, who all had to serve in the war.
The series takes place in the middle of the Kargil War and follows the Golden Arrows Squadron as they fly high-altitude aerial missions in one of the world’s highest-altitude battlefields. Unlike conventional war dramas that are based on combat, Operation Safed Sagar is about the emotional loss and sacrifice, and resilience of Air Force personnel and their families, which is an intimate portrayal of the life of a military person to them.
