Pooja Hegde Waves Tricolour at New York India Day Parade, Says She Felt ‘Immense Pride’

Pooja Hegde turned up as a guest in New York for the India Day Parade and made a mark. The actress was among thousands of people from the Indian diaspora who came together to celebrate India’s culture and heritage and Independence Day on foreign soil.

Pooja shared photos from the special occasion and pictures of her waving the Indian tricolour in the parade. She described it as a deeply proud and emotional moment.

The actress was among people who walked in the India Day Parade on Madison Avenue in New York, one of the largest celebrations of Indian heritage outside the country.

Pooja was seen standing atop a vehicle holding the Indian national flag. She also wore a sash identifying her as the “Chief Guest” at the event.

Pooja shared photos from the parade and expressed her happiness to see the Indian community come together thousands of kilometres away from home.

The actress said she felt proud to be on the streets of New York with Indians who were celebrating the things that connect them to India.

Pooja made a fashion statement for the occasion. She wanted to wear a yellow and mint-green organza saree with delicate floral embroidery.

She paired the saree with a matching sash and kept her overall styling elegant and understated. She wore a choker necklace and jhumka earrings and her face was lightened with soft waves.

A bindi completed her look and gave her a festive and graceful look.

The traditional Indian attire and the tricolour added to the patriotic mood of the celebration.

A Celebration of Indian Culture Abroad

As the India Day Parade in New York brings together the Indian-American community on India's Independence Day and showcases our diverse cultural traditions, we recognize it.

The event is one of the largest India Day celebrations outside India. Indian cultural performances, music, traditional attire, and participation of prominent members of the Indian community are part of the parade.

The presence of Pooja as Guest of Honour added a Bollywood touch to this year’s celebrations. Adivi Sesh was also present at the event as a chief guest.

For Pooja, the event seemed to be more than a public appearance. Her social-media post was an emotional manifestation of how Indians came together to celebrate with one another and to realize that they shared roots while they were living abroad.

Pooja Hegde has various interesting projects lined up on the professional front.

She will lead Kanchana 4, the next film in the popular horror-comedy franchise. Raghava Lawrence will also be in the film.

The actress will also appear in Sri Sri, a Telugu romantic film with Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role. The film is directed by Ravi Nelakuditi.

Another major project in her upcoming lineup is Sanki, an action thriller in which she will share screen space with Ahan Shetty.

Pooja has many films in different genres and still keeps up a busy schedule in Indian cinema in general.

Her appearance at the New York India Day Parade has now been added to her year’s memory, and the actress has represented India in a proud manner and joined the diaspora in celebrating the country’s heritage and culture.
