Suriya has revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes story about the finale of Karuppu, the upcoming film (he is playing in its final shot only months after filming of the film) that the team decided to reshoot the ending months after we were done filming. Rishab Shetty’s Kantara was great for the actor Suriya says it set a very high bar to tell in terms of showing a lot of spiritual and cultural scenes on screen.

Karuppu climax

Talking about the finale, Suriya admitted that comparisons with Kantara were inevitable because of the emotional and spiritual intensity associated with the subject.

"Rishab Shetty has already done the same in Kantara, and we have witnessed it. We know the intensity with which it worked. To do something close to that, it could go anywhere," Suriya said.

The actor said that director RJ Balaji was not satisfied with the original climax even six months after the main shoot of Karuppu had been completed. The film team decided to revisit the film’s ending and reshoot the crucial sequence.

Suriya already worked on another project at that time and had adopted a clean-shaven look for it. Despite the challenge of returning to Karuppu, the actor took the role of reshooting the climax to help the director achieve his creative vision.

Recalling the emotional experience, Suriya said that a statue of Karuppusamy was standing in front of him when he was filming the new climax. Before doing so, he said a prayer.

"There was a Karuppusamy statue in front of me. I just prayed to come inside and guide me," the actor said.

His comments have resonated with fans, many of whom appreciated his respect for the cultural and spiritual roots of the character. Suriya's dedication to authenticity and his willingness to revisit an important sequence even after the film had largely been completed has been praised.

Suriya’s comments also show the confidence that RJ Balaji has in the project. The filmmaker’s decision to rework and redo a climax after several months of development reflects his desire to create a memorable cinematic experience, not a perfect ending that he believes needs to be improved.

The mention of Kantara has even more excited people for Karuppu. Rishab Shetty’s film has become known for its strong ending and culturally grounded storytelling, making it one of the most celebrated Indian films in recent years. Suriya admitted that matching such emotional intensity is a significant challenge, while emphasizing the team's effort to create something unique.

The filmmakers have not revealed any details of the climax, but Suriya’s comments indicate the film will have an emotional and spiritually meaningful ending.

Karuppu has become one of the most eagerly awaited Tamil releases. Fans are now eagerly waiting for the reshot climax and the performance of Suriya, which he says was guided by faith, emotion, and complete dedication to the story.
