Vishwanath and Sons is finally seeing a recovery at the box office after seeing a three-day drop in daily collections. The film earned around Rs 4.50 crore in India net collections on Day 8, which is 7.1% higher than the day before and Rs 4.20 crore.

The latest collection has taken the film’s domestic net to Rs 86.10 crore. Its overseas performance has also remained unchanged, and its worldwide gross collection is at an estimated Rs 149.77 crore.
Day 8 brings relief in the wake of a three-day decline
According to Sacnilk, Vishwanath and Sons earned approximately Rs 4.50 crore in India net collections on Friday from 2,805 shows.
The film had enjoyed strong business earlier in the run, but started to lose momentum after Day 5. It collected around Rs 6.35 crore on its five-day run, and fell to Rs 5.10 crore on Day 6, and Rs 4.20 crore on Day 7.
The Day 8 increase therefore represents a good development for the film as it enters its second weekend.
The movie had completed its first seven days with an India net collection of around Rs 81.60 crore. With Friday’s earnings added, its domestic net total has reached around Rs 86.10 crore.
The India gross collection is currently around Rs 99.52 crore.
Telugu Version Leads Day 8 Business
The Telugu version emerged as the better performer on the eighth day, contributing about Rs 2.35 crore to the film's India net collection.
The Telugu version was screened in 1,258 shows and had an overall occupancy of around 36%. Night shows received the most response and were at around 51% occupancy.
Evening shows had around 41.36% occupancy, while afternoon screenings had 35.18%. Morning shows had a much lower occupancy of 15.09%.
The numbers show that the film continues to draw better audiences during later screenings, and night shows are extremely important for its second-week performance.
Tamil Version Records 26% Occupancy
The Tamil version collected around Rs 2.15 crore from 1,547 shows on Day 8.
Its overall occupancy was around 26%. Night screenings once again had the best showing at around 40.54% occupancy.
The evening shows had 22.15% occupancy and the afternoon screenings had 25.15%. Morning shows remained relatively subdued at 17.08%.
The Tamil market continues to be very much an important part of the film’s domestic business even though the Telugu version has a higher number of tourists than the Tamil one; still, the Telugu version has more occupancy on the eighth day.
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are still key markets
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were still among the most important markets for Vishwanath and Sons.
The two states together contributed around Rs 2.40 crore to the film’s gross collection on Friday, they said.
Tamil Nadu followed with around Rs 1.85 crore while Karnataka contributed around Rs 75 lakh. Kerala contributed around Rs 15 lakh, while the rest of India had about Rs 5 lakh.
Together, these markets generated a gross collection of around Rs 5.20 crore on Day 8.
The regional performance highlights the importance of the Telugu and Tamil markets for the Suriya-led film, particularly as it moves into its second weekend.
Worldwide collection nears Rs 150 Crore
The film has continued to benefit from the overseas business as well. With the latest overseas contribution to the domestic performance, Vishwanath and Sons has reached an estimated Rs 149.77 crore in worldwide gross collections.
With a total of Rs 150 crore in India and a second weekend to come, the movie is close to the Rs 150 crore worldwide.
The second weekend will now be critical for whether the movie will still recover from a three-day decline. If occupancy continues to grow (even in the evening and night shows), the film will continue to add to its total theatrical numbers.
What next for Vishwanath and Sons?
The Day 8 increase is a good sign after a couple of days of falling collections. The rise from Rs 4.20 crore to Rs 4.50 crore is still small but shows the film has gotten some momentum going into the weekend.
The next two days will give us a better sense of the film’s staying power. If weekend audiences respond positively, the movie could perhaps strengthen its second-week run and move closer to the Rs 100 crore India gross milestone.
So far, Vishwanath and Sons has crossed Rs 86 crore in India net collections and is approaching Rs 150 crore worldwide, giving the Suriya starrer another important box-office milestone to chase.
