Bigg Boss Kannada Season 13 is already drawing more people even before the contestants actually enter the Bigg Boss house. This season has an opportunity for common people to join the popular reality show with the talent selection process called Agni Pariksha.

Unlike the typical audition, Agni Pariksha is constructed to challenge the contestants on courage, talent, intelligence, emotional strength, confidence, decision-making, and more. The selection is done in two stages, with the first stage putting them through a series of difficult tasks.
In the opening episode, eight out of 60 aspirants faced the Agni Pariksha. They included Deeksha R. Shetty, Modern Kavi Manja, Isha Naveen, sisters Yogitha-Yogashree, Ratna Chandrappa, Kebab Manju, Charan Shetty and G.K. Poornima.
Four contestants got into the jury after the first round, and they made it to the next stage.
Four contestants move ahead
Modern Kavi Manja, Charan Shetty, Ratna Chandrappa and G.K. Poornima were the successful contestants in the first episode.
Their performance, confidence and ability to cope with the unusual obstacles earned them green signals from the jury.
Among them, G.K. Poornima was one of the most interesting contestants because of her unconventional background.
Poornima works as a mechanic at a KSRTC depot in Mandya district, so her journey is particularly different from reality-show contestant profiles.
G.K. Poornima steals the spotlight
Poornima impressed the jury both physically and in confidence.
She was put in a big tyre challenge. While the task was supposed to take 30 seconds, Poornima lifted the heavy tyre for 45 seconds and showed her great strength and determination.
She also uniquely demonstrated her acting skills by performing in front of jury members Sangeetha Sringeri and Vinay Gowda in the style of an intoxicated person.
The confidence, spontaneity, and personality of each of the other aspirants were all something she did differently.
Poornima finally received the green signal needed to move forward in the selection process.
Deeksha and Isha were placed on hold.
Not everyone received a clear verdict.
Deeksha R. Shetty and Isha Naveen were put on hold after failing to convince the jury properly to go for a direct selection.
Deeksha was faced with an emotionally and professionally hard task. She had to call her manager and say she would no longer come to work and was resigning from her job.
The task was designed to test her ability to make difficult decisions under pressure.
Isha Naveen had an emotional challenge with a purse given to her by her father. She was asked to destroy the personal item; she had to choose between emotion and completing the task.
While both contestants found their challenges, they did not get enough green signals for direct qualification and were therefore put on hold.
Yogitha-Yogashree face disappointment
And the sibling duo Yogitha and Yogashree also had a tough first round.
Because the rules did not allow both sisters to be tested simultaneously, one sister had to wait while the other faced the jury.
The subsequent evaluation did not convince the judges that the contestant had shown the maturity and decision-making ability to progress.
Thus, in the first round, the sisters failed to get a chance to get selected.
Kebab Manju eliminated after daring challenge.
Kebab Manju faced perhaps one of the most dangerous-looking challenges of the episode.
He put his hand into boiling oil in Agni Pariksha, as it was said to be a part of the Agni Pariksha, for he is willing to take risks and prove his courage.
But physical bravery was not enough.
When asked why he wanted to enter the Bigg Boss house, Kebab Manju explained that he wanted to search for his lost mother and brother. His emotional reason did not convince the jury.
Despite completing a difficult physical challenge, he was removed from the selection process.
How does the Agni Pariksha selection work?
The jury for the special selection process includes Vinay Gowda, Sangeetha Sringeri, Charan Shetty and actress Shruti.
They are not judges at all. Instead, they are jury members who decide whether the aspirants deserve to move closer to the Bigg Boss house.
The contestants are either given green or red signals based on their performances.
If there are a majority of green signals, then the contestant is already qualified for the next stage. If the jury's verdict is equally divided, the contestant is held up. A clear majority of red signals is enough to be removed from the selection process.
The audience gets the last say.
The real excitement of Agni Pariksha, however, is in the second stage.
The audience will eventually make the final decision. Each viewer will be able to vote for their favourite aspirants, with the popular vote determining who gets into the Bigg Boss house.
This is the difference in selection from the typical celebrity reality-show format.
Common people get a major opportunity.
Bigg Boss Kannada 13 has the biggest opportunity to get contestants who are people from ordinary backgrounds.
Instead of relying entirely on established celebrities, the show is giving people an opportunity to showcase their personalities, life experiences, courage, and talents.
G.K. Poornima is already one of the examples of how a contestant from a completely different profession can gain a unique perspective by being confident and determined.
After the first round, four contestants have advanced, two remain on hold, and two have been eliminated.
The next stage will likely determine who would win the audience’s support and eventually enter the Bigg Boss house.
Given that the Agni Pariksha is in the middle of a tense relationship, physical tests and uncharacteristic performances already have the fans’ attention, and the bigger question now is: Who will win the audience’s hearts and get into the Bigg Boss house?
