Darshan Jariwala Denies Apara Mehta’s ‘Ugliest Woman’ Claim: ‘Main Aisa Aadmi Nahi Hoon’
Veteran actor Darshan Jariwala has broken his silence on allegations by his estranged wife and actress Apara Mehta over their long-distance relationship.
A few weeks ago, Mehta had spoken about an ugly moment in their past and claimed that Jariwala told her that she was the “ugliest woman” he had ever seen. Jariwala has now vehemently denied it.
Jariwala claimed to not remember the incident as Mehta did. He said memories of events can be different from what actually occurred and referred to a “false memory.”
Jariwala also wondered why he would make such a hurtful comment about someone's appearance.
Defending his character, the actor said, “Main aisa aadmi nahi hoon,” making it clear that he does not consider himself someone who would deliberately insult another person in such a manner.
The actor said that physical appearance has never been a big factor in how he sees people.
He said he would not even tell a woman who doesn’t look that good physically that she is ugly, because he doesn’t make such judgments.
The controversy comes after Apara Mehta has expressed her love for Jariwala, and the reasons for her separation.
The actors have been living separately for more than two decades but their marriage is not legally dissolved.
Jariwala said their relationship evolved over the years and they moved in different directions.
He described separation as a complicated phase in both their lives and said that for them a number of personal problems led to the distance.
The actor also spoke about the legal proceedings related to their marriage. He said he had once in the past filed for divorce but didn’t get her consent because Mehta didn’t agree.
So they remain married in spite of being separated for several years, he said.
Jariwala also recalled the difficult period of separation after leaving their shared home.
He said he had stayed with friends for some time before finding a home for himself. The separation was not easy for either of them, he said.
Jariwala said he knows his own truth and cannot speak for Mehta’s recollection of events.
He seemed to question the decision to revisit details of their relationship publicly after so many years.
The statements from both actors have brought renewed attention to their long-standing relationship.
Mehta has made her version of what happened during the breakdown of their marriage, Jariwala has rejected the allegation about the “ugliest woman” comment and offered a very different account of their past.
The matter is now a case of conflicting recollections, but Jariwala insists he did not say the comment attributed to him and that he can’t stand up to such an insult as his personality and values.
