Jyotirmayee Nayak Dreams of Singing for Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone

After winning Indian Idol season 16, Odisha's famous singer Jyotirmayee Nayak has her sights on Bollywood playback singing. The 24-year-old singer, who became the first Odisha singer to win the popular reality show, said one of her biggest dreams is to work with Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone. She also said she wants to work with great Bollywood singers Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh on an original song.

Jyotirmayee, who managed to win the Indian Idol 16 trophy, said she has always admired Alia Bhatt's acting and would love to be her playback singer in a future film. She also said Deepika Padukone is another actress she dreams of singing for, because she thinks that both stars have screen presence that makes them good in a soulful, melodious song.

In addition to her Bollywood dreams, the newly crowned champion wants to collaborate with two of India’s biggest musical legends—Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh. Jyotirmayee said working with the talented singers on an original track would be a career-changing and dream come true. She said if she could sing for a biopic she would like to sing for Asha Bhosle if given the chance.

Jyotirmayee's victory is a proud moment for Odisha. She has impressed judges and audiences throughout the season with her powerful vocals, emotional performances and versatility in music. Her consistency ultimately resulted in her winning the Indian Idol 16 title, earning her a cash prize of ₹20 lakh and widespread recognition across the country.

Before her television breakthrough, Jyotirmayee had already established a reputation in Odisha’s regional music industry. She received a B.Tech in Computer Science from KIIT University and also received a certification in Music Therapy and used that to work in music therapy. She has also worked as a music therapist providing emotional and mental health support.

Jyotirmayee said that Indian Idol changed the way she was both as a person and professionally. Working in one of India’s biggest singing platforms brought on new musical styles she had never heard of, and gave her confidence to face a playback career. She credits her mentors, family and fans with coaching her through the competition.

Now that the Indian Idol trophy is in place, Jyotirmayee Nayak is looking forward to the next phase of her musical career. With Bollywood continuing to bring in new talent, we can all expect her to work with Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and collaborate with Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh soon.
