Allu Arjun Calls Pushpa 2 Jathara Scene the ‘Most Alpha’ Thing He Has Done
Allu Arjun has opened up about one of the most talked-about scenes from his big-budget film Pushpa 2: The Rule and says the Jathara scene is “the most alpha thing that has ever been done in his career.” His comments have once again put the elaborate sequence in the spotlight and has given us the same kind of visual impact and huge buzz about it from fans.
Jathara is set at Sammakka Saralamma Jathara, the major tribal festival in Telangana. Allu Arjun is in a classic style for the sequence, in contrast with his rugged and masculine look as Pushpa Raj in the film. The entire act is done with great costume design, dance, expressions and action-oriented cinematography and it’s a wonderful visual experience.
Allu Arjun noted how much of the actor’s confidence and physical commitment was needed in order to do this sequence. The scene, he said, is the “most alpha thing” he had ever done, which shows a very different kind of performance— strength, vulnerability, transformation and presence on screen. Pushpa 2: The Rule is the sequel to 2021 Telugu-language film Pushpa: The Rise, which introduced audiences to Pushpa Raj and his rise in the red sandalwood smuggling world. Directed by Sukumar, the franchise has become one of the most commercially successful contemporary Telugu film series and has been most successful with Allu Arjun playing a key role in the popularity of the franchise.
The sequel expanded the story, with Pushpa in a war with police and other forces. Allu Arjun was again the central character while Rashmika Mandanna was back as Srivalli. Fahadh Faasil returned as SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat to continue the rivalry established in the first film.
The Jathara sequence is the most notable because it combines cultural imagery with the larger-than-life presentation that has become an important feature of the Pushpa franchise. It was designed to be visually dramatic but also to be emotionally and narratively engaging in Pushpa’s character development.
