Success as a film is seldom established by mere glamour. Behind the lights, red carpets, and applause, there is rejection, sacrifice, loneliness, and a constant spirit of perseverance. Bhagyashri Borse, who recently received much attention for her performance in the Telugu film Lenin alongside Akhil Akkineni, is a prime example of such perseverance over adversity.
Bhagyashri comes from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), Maharashtra, and was from an ordinary family with extraordinary dreams. But getting her family to support her ambition of becoming an actress was one of the hardest struggles she had to face in her life.

Bhagyashri recently voiced her emotions when speaking to college students. She also noted the family was against her decision to enter the entertainment industry.
She recalled that when she first told her mother of her desire to do acting, the response was straight to the point: "no." She went on to ask her father for his support, but he too said that if her mother was against it, he just didn't agree.
Even her sister, who she believed would understand her dreams, advised her to abandon the idea because the whole family opposed it.
Bhagyashri also said it was heartbreaking to realize that everyone she trusted rejected her biggest dream. But she also said she doesn’t blame her parents.
In fact, as the actress said, their resistance was more out of concern than disbelief. They were worried about their daughter’s safety in an entirely new and competitive film industry, which she now understands in a more mature light.
Six Months Without Speaking to Her Mother
Bhagyashri was still motivated in spite of the emotional pain.
She began to go to auditions, even though her family still disapproved of her decision. And it made it even worse when her mother was allegedly blocked on WhatsApp and wouldn’t talk to her for almost six months.
The actress said those months were the most difficult of her life. Living far from her family, without emotional support, trying to establish herself in a competitive industry tested her resilience every single day.
But she held onto one belief—that one day her success would make her parents proud.
Bhagyashri smiles today when she thinks of those long and painful days, but she knows that there was immense mental strength and confidence to overcome loneliness.
Choosing Courage Over Regret
Bhagyashri had a powerful message for students and said that one thought kept motivating her throughout her struggle.
She never wanted to live to the age of 80 and wonder what might have happened if she had never pursued her dream.
She believes regret is one of life’s greatest burdens, and we should never let fear keep us from being able to do the things that really make us happy.
Her message encouraged young people to take calculated risks and remain committed to their goals, even when others doubt them.
The ₹200 Slippers That Changed Her Life
One of the most touching moments from Bhagyashri's childhood involved a simple pair of slippers worth ₹200.
She recalled walking with her father when she saw a pair she loved and asked him to buy them. Her father quietly refused and continued walking.
As a child, she was sad and wondered why he couldn’t afford to buy something so inexpensive.
She came to realize later in life that the incident was one of the biggest lessons of her life.
From that day on, she made two promises to herself:
- Always ask the price before buying anything.
- Never rely on anyone else for money.
She says her childhood experience is responsible for her independent self-reliance and the way she is now financially self-sufficient.
A Strong Message on Financial Independence
At the end of the interaction, Bhagyashri had a very important message for young women.
She said that every woman should have a dream to be financially independent, earn their own income, have a personal bank account, and eventually own a home.
She says financial independence is not just about money but rather confidence, decision-making, and empowerment, and the freedom for women to live life on their own terms.
She thinks that a gift for parents or fulfilling one's own dreams is more satisfying to achieve by one’s own earnings.
