Dipika Chikhalia, actress of the Ramayan TV series, who portrayed Goddess Sita in Ramanand Sagar's famous serial Ramayan, has given her opinions on Sai Pallavi's acting in Nitesh Tiwari's much-awaited film Ramayana. While praising Sai Pallavi's acting ability, Dipika stated that traditional descriptions of Sita in the epic do not mention that she has curly hair.

Dipika said in a recent interview, “Sita ji with curly hair is not mentioned in Ramayan” and that audiences have long associated with a particular appearance based on traditional depictions. Her comment has attracted attention from fans, especially after Sai Pallavi is shown in the promotional material.

Dipika, though she was concerned about the character's appearance, complimented Sai Pallavi's talent. She called the actress “phenomenal” and said it would be unfair to judge the performance before watching the film. According to Dipika, whether an actor will do a job depends on the way in which the character is presented on screen.

Dipika also reflected on how playing Sita in the 1980s TV series became her lifelong identity. She said the role still defines her career decades later and appreciated the emotional connection audiences have with Ramanand Sagar’s adaptation of the epic.

Ramayana is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and has Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film has attracted high expectations as a result of its big budget production, visual effects and ensemble cast.

Sai Pallavi’s casting has been met with mixed reviews on the internet. Some fans think she is very natural on screen and her stage presence and good acting abilities make her a good choice, but others say she is not a good choice because her appearance is not consistent with the traditional image of Sita. Dipika’s comments have added to the debate and her comments brought a different point of view to the debate, though she said audiences should wait to see the movie.

In the wake of the buzz for the Ramayana movie coming to the cinema halls, the film is one of the most eagerly awaited Indian movies to be released in recent years. With its star-studded cast and ambitious storytelling, the adaptation aims to bring the timeless epic to a new generation while balancing creative interpretation with cultural expectations.
