Asim Riaz speaks out against Himanshi Khurana and religious pressure in his previous relationship.
The former Bigg Boss 13 contestants are back in the news again now after Himanshi spoke about the religious differences that negatively impacted their relationship during a podcast.
Himanshi did not name Asim when talking to Paras Chhabra about their troubled times. She was encouraged to accept and understand her partner’s faith and how she was emotionally conflicted.
She said the situation made her question whether she would be able to continue following the beliefs she had grown up with.
Her statements created speculation online and many on social media linked her statements to her past relationship with Asim. Himanshi and Asim had met on Bigg Boss 13, and had already started dating soon after.
They had split in December 2023 because they had faith differences and both had discussed choosing their own faith over the other.
Asim has now explicitly denied any suggestion that he asked Himanshi to change her religion. He said in a social media post: “I never asked anyone to change their religion. Not once.”
He also criticised the use of religion in a public debate, calling it a sensitive subject and objecting to what he felt was a form of negativity in the world.
Asim also discussed the rest of the controversy, about their careers and financial status. He said he could verify his financial claim by bank statements and didn’t need other people in his career.
His comments came as the debate over his past relationship with Himanshi was still going on online.
Himanshi has since said that this is not a simple conversion experience for her; not exactly what she thought as a straightforward conversion.
Her former partner was confident about the positive aspects of his religion and wanted her to understand and accept them and was willing to accept it, she said, but her former partner told her she was not comfortable having that attitude as her own.
The controversy highlights the religious differences that had been seen as a major factor in the couple’s breakup.
Himanshi has also spoken directly about the emotional impact of those differences from her perspective, but Asim is now giving his own version of things and firmly denying that he pressured her to convert.
As both sides discuss the past in public, the issue has once again brought Asim and Himanshi’s past relationship into the spotlight.
But for now, Asim’s own statement makes his position clear he never asked Himanshi or anyone else to change their religion.
