Bhai Tera Star Hai, actor Raghav Juyal’s first movie as a solo lead, is heading towards a box office failure. The movie was released on July 31 and opened simultaneously with the Hollywood blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day in front of the entire nation. The comedy had less than 1,000 theaters on its opening day and was heavily impacted by the Hollywood release, so critics were extremely critical of the movie and word-of-mouth wasn’t very much on it and it had a very poor opening week.

The box office’s trajectory is disturbingly bad. The comedy opened with a weak 0.25 crore and wouldn’t get going for the weekend, it went on an all-round downhill spiral, making a net loss of 0.91 crore for a long opening weekend. Things got worse on Monday when the film was down 76% and drew only 6 lakh out of 333 screens. The downward trajectory continued and collections fell further to 5 lakh despite playing on 299 screens. This was the 6-day cumulative net for the movie for a total of just 1.02 crore and for a first-week finish of less than 1.5 crore.
A closer look at the day-by-day breakdown shows the grim reality: Day 1 brought in 0.25 crore, Day 2 matched it at 0.25 crore, Day 3 dropped to 0.20 crore, Day 4 to 0.21 crore, Day 5 to 0.06 crore and Day 6 to 0.05 crore. With the screen reduction and bad box office, theater owners are pulling shows in a hurry, leaving the movie with numbers usually seen in its fourth or fifth week performance.
On an estimated production budget of 20 to 25 crore, the financial deficit is staggering. With lifetime collections unlikely to reach even 1.5 crore, the film will fail to recover even 10 percent of its investment and the makers will be bleeding big money. Vivek B Agrawal directed, produced and stars Niki Walia, Sanjay Kapoor, Niharika NM, Vivan Bhatena, Tina Desai, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Vineeth Kumar in the production of Bhai Tera Star Hai, but the cast has not been able to save it from the disaster stage of the movie in the theater.
