Kangana Ranaut has once again landed herself in the middle of a heated Bollywood controversy when she publicly rebuked a few industry peers. Speaking to the media on Monday, she named Taapsee Pannu, Rakhi Sawant, Sonu Sood and Ashutosh Rana, saying that such comments were directed at her family, upbringing, character and public way.
Kangana is not shy about talking to her critics. She argued that she would not be willing to listen to anyone who has not achieved as much success in their own life as she had. She said if someone had not achieved even one per cent of the success she had achieved in life, she would not be interested in listening to their advice.
Kangana specifically referred to comments made by Ashutosh Rana, Sonu Sood, Rakhi Sawant and Taapsee Pannu. She claimed that Rana had compared her manner of speaking to a dog's barking while Sood had commented on how she should behave herself. Rakhi Sawant had also made vulgar remarks about her character.
Taapsee Pannu was another major name mentioned by Kangana. Taapsee had repeatedly made comments about her parents, upbringing and background, Kangana said. The comments have opened a new chapter in the long-running public exchanges between the two actors.
And Kangana has accused some of her critics of using her name to attract media attention. She has said that some people target her constantly because mentioning her allows them to remain in the news. That was one of her sharp answers to their comments: get better from where you are to be able to comment on her life and career.
The actor listed some of the comments about her behaviour and personal life that she had been told, including what she felt were repeated personal attacks about her behaviour. She said she would not take what she described as repeated personal attacks, so she had to say enough was enough.
Kangana also criticized those who she believes attempt to attach themselves to her public profile for publicity. She dismissed such critics in particularly strong terms and said she had no intention of allowing them to exploit her name.
Kangana also went after yoga guru Baba Ramdev for comments she said questioned her character. Her new comments thus represent a change from her usual film-industry arguments and again show her willingness to speak up publicly when she feels she has been personally targeted.
Kangana's remarks come after a series of controversies surrounding her public statements in recent weeks. Her comments about Generation Z and student protests had earlier sparked a debate with her comments about Generation Z and student protests. In her words, she used "Generation Gutter" and derided Westernised behaviour in youth and women in the world.
Her comments attracted great attention, especially in the wake of student protests, which had become a major national talking point and were linked to political developments related to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Kangana later seemed to soften her stance on Gen Z. She praised the younger generation and referred to them as one of India’s greatest strengths and as ambassadors of the country’s culture and identity. The apparent change in her view of young Indians only added fuel to the fire of speculation around her views on them.

Kangana has developed a reputation as someone who speaks up about everything from Bollywood and nepotism to politics and social behaviour and national identity. Her confrontational nature has frequently resulted in public disagreements with fellow actors and other prominent personalities.
Her latest comments are only going to spark more debate on social media and more discussion because she has named and criticized a number of actors directly and questioned their credibility and success in public. How the actors that Kangana has mentioned in her comments will respond to that kind of statement remains to be seen.
