Kangana Ranaut celebrated Raksha Bandhan with her brother as is usual and wrote an emotional note on sibling love, family values and mutual protection. Her post came at the same time when the actress Kriti Sanon is being criticized about a recent jewellery advertisement of Raksha Bandhan.

Kangana went for a traditional look to celebrate the festival with Bandhani saree and participated with her family in Raksha Bandhan rituals. The pictures showed the actress with a decorated thali and the essentials needed for the puja in light of her cultural significance. She was having the festival very easily and in a traditional way with her brother.
Kangana’s message was mainly about her wishes and prayers for her brother. She hoped that the sacred bond represented by the rakhi would always be a source of protection and affection. She also asked her brother to take care of his parents, to uphold family values, to take care of his wife and to protect his children.
Kangana wrote in her message, “Main Ishwar se prarthna karti hoon ki yeh prem ka bandhan jo maine tumhare haath pe bandha hai yeh sada tumhari Raksha kare.” She went on to pray for his health, prosperity and contentment, and stressed family responsibilities.
The actress also described her brother as a reflection of their parents, so it was very personal. She said she wishes to receive his love and protection. She concluded with warm Raksha Bandhan wishes to brothers and sisters everywhere.
Kangana’s post has come at a time when Raksha Bandhan celebrity campaigns are being extensively covered online. Kriti Sanon is in jewellery company GIVA's Raksha Bandhan campaign. The advertisement has been criticized by some on social media for the actor's outfit and the debate has gone on far beyond the campaign.
Kangana had already spoken of the controversy, and said that the discussion shouldn’t only come down to clothes in the advertisement. Her comments added to an already active social media debate about celebrity endorsements, festival campaigns and perceptions of cultural appropriateness.
But her latest Raksha Bandhan post was on her own family celebrations. Never addressing the controversy directly, Kangana used the occasion to address the traditional meaning of the festival. Her words touched on responsibility towards parents, family dignity, marital well-being and the protection of children.
Raksha Bandhan is celebrated as a festival symbolizing the brother-sister relationship. At this time, sisters would tie a rakhi around their brothers’ wrists and pray for their well-being, and brothers would even promise them support and protection. And the festival has become more of a sibling festivity over time, brothers and sisters expressing love in different ways.
Kangana’s celebration seemed to be a close family and tradition experience. By choosing Bandhani saree and puja in her note she was showing her wish with others from Bollywood who are sharing their festival with their followers on social media.
She ended by wishing all siblings a happy Raksha Bandhan, describing it as a cherished festival. So she combined personal affection with a broader festive greeting in her post and the online conversations around the festival also highlighted the way celebrities have promoted Indian festivals through advertising, fashion and social media.
With Raksha Bandhan going on in India as well, Kangana's typical family post gives insight into how the actress celebrated it. And though she had not had the same festival-related celebrity pictures in her last update she did share the feelings of siblings and her prayers for her brother's happiness, health and prosperity.
