Lifetime long veteran actor Pradeep Rawat died at the age of 74, but left behind not only great performances but also interesting stories of his life. One such story was Aamir Khan’s blockbuster Ghajini (2008) in which Rawat played the menacing antagonist and revealed how he had been instrumental in getting Aamir on board for the Hindi remake.
This journey of Ghajini to Bollywood was not easy according to Rawat. The actor had earlier said that director A.R. Murugadoss had originally considered Salman Khan for the Hindi adaptation of the Tamil hit. But Rawat felt Aamir Khan suited the role and suggested him to the filmmaker.
Pradeep Rawat's Recommendation changed the Film
Recalling the events, Pradeep Rawat explained that A.R. Murugadoss was uncertain if Aamir would agree to remake the film. But Rawat encouraged the director to approach him, convinced that Aamir would love the story once he had seen the original version.
Rawat said the team had been chasing Aamir Khan for almost six months and hoped that he would take the time to see the Tamil film. Aamir finally agreed to watch it after repeated efforts.

As Rawat says, once Aamir Khan saw the original Ghajini, he instantly saw the film’s potential and agreed to star in the Hindi remake.
The decision proved to be a turning point for everyone involved. And Ghajini released in 2008 was one of the biggest blockbusters of its time, the first Bollywood film to reach ₹100 crore at the domestic box office and set a new bar for the industry.
