Sagarika Ghatge, best known for her memorable role in Chak De! India, is returning to Bollywood with Salman Khan and Nayanthara’s upcoming action entertainer, directed by Vamshi Paidipally. The news has thrilled fans because the actress has largely stayed away from mainstream cinema in recent years.
Sagarika has joined the team of the recently announced film, which is produced by Dil Raju. The film is currently in production and is scheduled for a theatrical release on Eid 2027. Salman Khan and Nayanthara are already filming together, while the filmmakers have been expanding the ensemble cast.
For Sagarika, it is a big comeback with the role of Preeti Sabharwal in Shah Rukh Khan's 2007 sports drama Chak De! India. Her performance in the film remains one of the most popular female characters in the movie. So she returns to a major Bollywood project after a long time off and has drawn considerable attention.
The Vamshi Paidipally directorial is becoming a huge action film. Salman Khan and Nayanthara are playing the lead roles, and veteran actor Jackie Shroff is also part of the ensemble in a key role. There are reports of several actors playing antagonistic characters in the film, in line with the action-oriented nature of the movie.
The production team has constructed an elaborate Afghan village set in Mumbai for a crucial action schedule instead of filming in Afghanistan. The set is located at Prime Focus Studio in Film City, featuring mud-covered buildings, narrow streets, and old homes that mimic the feeling of an Afghan settlement, the report says. Salman Khan, Nayanthara, and Jackie Shroff are also involved in this project.
The Eid 2027 release will give the film a big festive window, which is considered one of Salman Khan’s best theatrical periods. The combination of Salman, Nayanthara, Vamshi Paidipally, and a big action concept has already attracted huge interest to the project.
