Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji has gained another honour after the Honorary Doctor of Letters from Australia’s La Trobe University during the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2026.
The honour was awarded to the actress on 14 August 2026 at Federation Square in Melbourne as she contributed to Indian cinema and has made movies that have touched social issues.
Second Indian film star to receive the honour.
With this recognition, Rani Mukerji becomes the second Indian film star after Shah Rukh Khan to receive an honorary doctorate from La Trobe University.
Mukerji is at the forefront of film, and she has shown that she can tell complex characters with a social message for the mainstream audience.
She also received a special award for performance excellence, and so she is one of Hindi cinema's most respected actors.
