Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups continues its impressive run on the box office, but collections drop on its second day after delivering one of the biggest openings in Indian cinema history. The gangster drama was directed by Geetu Mohandas and it went onto a huge opening day with a total income of ₹101.10 crore and set a new bar in Kannada cinema and has now established Yash as one of the country's biggest pan-India actors.
But the momentum slows down on Day 2. Trade estimates suggest Toxic collected around ₹36-38 crore net in India on its second day, down nearly 64 percent from its opening day number. The film's total India net collection is now around ₹138 crore after two days while its India gross collection is now around ₹165 crore. The movie is rapidly approaching ₹200 crore worldwide.
The drop didn’t stop the movie from being released in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. The industry has seen it so much down the line— this is not surprising after the fantastic opening day, with more than a million advance bookings and thousands of fan shows and even holiday screenings. But the way the film is dropping, will it ever reach the level of Yash’s KGF franchise and the box office impact of it?
One of the biggest positive factors for Toxic is that it is strong in Hindi-speaking territories. The Hindi version is the biggest driver of the opening-day numbers, but remains highest in collections on Day 2. Karnataka and Telugu-speaking regions supported the movie so well, so that occupancy remains stable despite the drop in overall earnings.
Industry experts say how the audience's reaction over the weekend will be decisive for the movie’s fate at the box office. There was a lot of hype before the movie even got in front of the industry, but the critics and audience reactions to the movie have been mixed as well. Yash’s screen presence, action sequences and look were praised for the performance, while others expressed concerns regarding the screenplay and pacing. Mixed word-of-mouth is the best way to keep the movie going on a weekday, so the weekend is crucial to keep the momentum going.
Toxic has already hit some milestones since Day 2. It joined the elite club of Indian movies that crossed ₹100 crore net mark on opening day and gave one of the biggest starts ever for an A-rated Indian film. These achievements underscore the huge anticipation surrounding the project and the strong fan following enjoyed by Yash across the country.
Toxic, produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, has an ensemble cast of Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. Its big scale, high production values, and pan-India appeal have also made it one of the most talked about releases of 2026.
Toxic will see its next several days if it can keep going and leverage the high-energy weekend. If collections have been strong on Saturday and Sunday, the movie may comfortably cross box office milestones and remain on the list of the year’s highest-grossing titles. And for now, the Yash-starrer is still a box office force even if there are signs of a problem at the ticket window.
