Amaal Mallik will now stop working on Bollywood movies because he wants to take care of himself, his health, recovery and his personal well-being. He will not work on any new film music projects until next year. His Awarapan 2 has been receiving huge attention.

Amaal is well-known for his melodic compositions and emotional songs that he has established a strong presence in the Hindi film industry. He has been associated with songs such as Soch Na Sake, Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon and Bol Do Na Zara in the past. His music has resonated with people who look for romantic and soulful Bollywood melodies.
The composer is currently enjoying the response to Awarapan 2, the sequel to the 2007 movie Awarapan. The music of the movie is making fans love it again especially the remake of the much-loved song Toh Phir Aao. So when the movie is coming out and its soundtrack is released, Amaal’s decision to step away from Bollywood is shocking to many.
Amaal Mallik Says He Needs Time To Heal
Amaal shared his decision on Thursday evening about it with X and said he wants to focus on what is most important to him, most notably his health. He said he needs time to recharge for his mind, body and soul and wants to let his mind, body and soul rest and recover before going back into work.
Amaal’s message implied that it was more than just to take time away from the hectic Bollywood schedule. And rather than thinking about it just for the sake of his own physical and emotional health he wants to return to music with renewed energy and creativity, he said.
He wrote he wants to “rise, recuperate and bounce back” with a heart full of melodies for his listeners. His message also reflected his deep connection with his audience, whom he affectionately refers to as his “Amaalians.”
No new Bollywood Film Music until 2027
Amaal also pointed out that he won’t be working on film music until next year. And while fans may have to wait before hearing new compositions from him in upcoming Bollywood projects, the composer said some of his previously unreleased songs could still make their way to audiences.
Amaal said that some of these songs belong to small-budget films with good intentions. For many such projects, he said, they are not the ones that can be distributed on the stage and the future of some of these films is uncertain. As a result, unreleased material associated with those projects could then come independently or at some point later in time.
His comments show that Amaal may not have to begin to make music for new film music for the time being, but his body of work may still reach the audience.
‘Music Se Cinema Tak Ka Safar...’
Amaal ended his announcement in a very emotional way, reflecting on his journey in the film industry. He wrote in Hindi, "Music se cinema tak ka safar mujhe bohot door le aaya hai, ab music ki taraf wapas chalne laga hoon," and said his journey from music to cinema had taken him far, but now he has to turn back to music itself.
That statement is so much of a manifestation of his desire to be back in music on his own terms and not on a kind of timetable to be there as a member of the film industry. He was finished and said he would be back and asked people not to press him for any further information in his break.
Fans Rally Around Amaal Mallik.
Following the announcement, fans flooded the comments with messages of support. Many of them wanted the composer to keep his health and peace of mind in mind instead of his professional commitments.
I am all good & I will go all the way in, this time, to do what is best for me & only do what is important to my heart & for my health.

A couple of fans also suggested he should take as much time as needed to recover and return when he feels right. The positive response to Amaal’s music is so much so that through his music he was able to connect so much with his listener— and he really has been able to make such a connection with them through his music over the years.
For now, the composer seems committed to stepping away from the pressures of Bollywood and spending time with himself and his music. And although the absence of new film soundtracks could be felt among fans, his decision is also a reflection of his desire to be himself and put his personal well-being before his work. With Awarapan 2 continuing to present him in the limelight and keep his music on the agenda, audiences will have to wait for Amaal's next Bollywood comeback.
