Yash’s Toxic has catapulted to the top in the box office list, with around ₹150 crore gross on its opening day. The film was estimated to have made a gross of ₹150 crore from trade trackers and the movie industry so far, Toxic has taken the 8th place in the list of highest opening day worldwide grosser.
The number places Toxic in the elite group of Indian films which have enjoyed huge opening numbers in domestic and international markets. Pushpa 2 is followed by several pan-Indian blockbusters which illustrates the scale of the opening achieved by Yash’s latest release.
According to the figures being circulated, the ranking is as follows:
- Pushpa 2 – ₹274 crore.
- Dhurandhar 2 – ₹241 crore.
- RRR – ₹223 crore.
- Baahubali 2 – ₹214 crore.
- Kalki 2898 AD – ₹179 crore.
- KGF: Chapter 2 – ₹165 crore.
- Salaar - ₹160 crore.
- Toxic - ₹150 crore*
- Coolie - ₹145–150 crore.
- They Call Him OG - ₹144 crore.
- Devara – ₹140 crore.
The Toxic figure is marked with an asterisk because the ₹150 crore number is an early estimate and may change as final worldwide figures from all territories are consolidated.
The ranking is especially significant for Yash because it places Toxic alongside films that have become defining titles in India’s modern pan-Indian cinema era. Major releases with some of the country’s biggest names (Allu Arjun, Prabhas, Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Rajinikanth and Yash himself).
Yash's presence in the list is remarkable since KGF: Chapter 2 (which is reported to have opened with around ₹165 crore worldwide) is ranked sixth. If the Toxic figure is confirmed, Yash will have two films that will be among the highest opening-day worldwide grossers, showcasing the enormous commercial pull he has felt after the success of the KGF franchise.
Toxic marks Yash's comeback to the big screen after KGF: Chapter 2 and has been one of the most watched Indian releases of the year. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, it has attracted much attention as it is a visual film with a grand scale and a cast of many.
The film also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth, which adds more star power to the project.
The opening-day performance comes after an incredibly strong advance-booking campaign. Toxic had sold hundreds of thousands of tickets in advance, with the film getting particularly strong interest in Karnataka and also gaining momentum in other Indian markets before the release date.
The ₹150 crore worldwide estimate also shows the growing importance of overseas markets for major Indian releases. Pan-Indian films are increasingly dependent on audiences outside their original language markets, and international Indian-diaspora audiences have become an important part of opening-weekend revenue.
That ranking on the first day should be viewed as a snapshot of the box office at the time of the release rather than a final assessment of the film’s box office performance. Final figures can change after reporting from individual territories is done and the long-term success of a film will depend on how it performed in the first weekend, weekdays and weeks after that.
The comparison with Coolie is also interesting since the two films are close together in the reported rankings. With Coolie estimated to be in the range of ₹145–150 crore and Toxic in roughly ₹150 crore, final trade figures could change their positions.
However, for Yash and his fans, the immediate takeaway is significant. A reported ₹150 crore worldwide opening puts Toxic firmly in the top tier of India’s biggest opening-day films.
If the early estimate is correct, Toxic would have achieved yet another significant milestone in Yash's career while cementing his place as one of the most powerful forces in India's pan-Indian theatrical market.
