The Odyssey IMAX Ticket Prices Revealed: Christopher Nolan Film Costs Up to ₹3,100 in India

Christopher Nolan's epic is coming out in theaters on Friday, July 17 and the hype for it is already huge. There are already pre-bookings for premium IMAX shows in India. In some cities, tickets are going up to record high prices with the most expensive seats going up to ₹3,100.

Based on Homer's epic Greek story, The Odyssey is one of Nolan's most ambitious projects. Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Elliot Page, Charlize Theron and more are among the many such actors. The film will be about 2 hours and 52 minutes long and will have Nolan’s signature style of grand storytelling, beautiful cinematography and immersive cinematic experience.

Premium IMAX tickets command steep prices


We are paying premium prices to people who want to experience “The Odyssey” in IMAX, particularly in the big cities.

In Delhi NCR, recliner seats are priced as high as ₹2,500 at PVR IMAX with Laser, Priya. Premium pricing is applicable to some shows during the day while standard seats are available at comparatively cheaper rates. At PVR Select City Walk, recliner seats are priced as high as ₹2,400 and regular seats are priced between ₹900 and ₹1,100.

At PVR Superplex Logix in Noida, recliner tickets are priced between ₹1,800 and ₹1,850, while standard seats are priced around ₹800-₹1,100 depending on the show timing.

Mumbai tops the pricing charts


Mumbai has emerged as the most expensive city for watching The Odyssey in IMAX.

At PVR ICON: Phoenix Palladium, Lower Parel recliner seats are being sold for ₹3,100 for many shows, making them the costliest seats available in the country. Standard seats are reasonable as they are priced as ₹700 to ₹1,000.

Moreover, Miraj Cinemas IMAX Wadala has recliner seats at ₹2,500 and other seating categories are ₹900 to ₹2,000. In a number of premium cinemas in Mumbai, recliner seats are generally priced between ₹1,300 and ₹1,800.

Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai offer varied pricing


Premium formats in Bengaluru are also generating high prices. Ticket prices at Cinepolis Nexus Shantiniketan are over ₹1,950 for some shows. At PVR VR Bengaluru ticket prices are between ₹1,200 and ₹1,850 depending on the category of seating and showtime.

Kolkata is a comparatively affordable experience. At INOX South City Mall, tickets are priced around ₹1,240 for afternoon and evening shows, while early morning screenings are priced below.

Chennai is the most economical among the big metro cities. Ticket prices there have been capped at about ₹508.34 and is significantly cheaper for audiences than Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru.

A cinematic event for Nolan fans


Christopher Nolan has built a reputation of turning every release into a global cinematic event and this is no doubt going to be the case with The Odyssey too. A great movie made from an original source material, with the best IMAX cinematography and an all-star cast is a perfect fit to a movie for movie lovers.

Industry observers say that premium ticket prices are indicative of the immense demand for the film’s IMAX screenings and that many people want the larger format of the film Nolan has so frequently advocated for throughout his career.

When The Odyssey arrives on July 17, it will be the top of the box office in Hollywood and one of the biggest Hollywood movies of the year. For many fans, the expensive tickets may be just a small price to pay for Christopher Nolan’s next epic on the biggest screen possible.
