As director Geetu Mohandas has praised the fashion designer Manish Malhotra for his work on Kiara Advani’s look for the Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups trailer launch. Speaking about it, Geetu told us about the designer’s meticulous attention to detail and his deep personal feeling of designing costumes for a character and the story.

Geetu revealed that she had the privilege of wearing a Manish Malhotra sari for the trailer launch. She described the experience of working with him on Kiara’s look as something truly special, particularly after seeing his creative process firsthand.
Geetu explained that every piece of the attire was thoroughly planned. Everything from the drape and embroidery to the smallest finishing touches was done to ensure that nothing was left to chance. Malhotra looks at everything about the look to suit the desired mood and personality, she said.
What impressed Geetu most was the personal connection Malhotra brings to his work. She explained that the designer doesn’t just make an outfit based on aesthetics. He takes time to understand the character, the moment and the mood that the filmmaker and actor are trying to create before developing the look around that story.
For Toxic, this was especially important for Kiara’s character Nadia. Geetu said Nadia “came alive” through Malhotra’s clothes; the costume design was fundamental to establishing the character’s identity and visual presence.
Geetu ended her heartfelt message by thanking Manish Malhotra and wishing to collaborate with him again. Her comments give an insight into the visual world for Toxic, one of the most eagerly awaited movies in the future with Yash and Kiara Advani.
Toxic has received a huge response following the trailer launch. Yash is the lead actor and Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and the other actors are a part of the ensemble cast. A great look, an action sequence and a different visual treatment are the main reasons fans are following this film.
Geetu’s love for Malhotra is also emblematic of the importance of costume design in modern Indian cinema, particularly in films with a focus on characterisation and visual storytelling.
With Kiara’s Nadia look getting noticed even before the film’s theatrical release, Manish Malhotra’s contribution certainly adds to the visual appeal of Toxic. For Geetu, the collaboration was more than just making a glamorous outfit, it was about fashion making a fictional character come to life.
