With Yash-starrer Toxic to be released worldwide tomorrow, the movie’s makers say they have obtained a John Doe order from the 36th Sessions Court to prevent the release of defamatory or damaging material related to the movie.
KVN Productions, the production company behind Toxic, obtained the order in a petition after hearing them out. The main point of the order is that it spans beyond named defendants. The John Doe order is typically used to prohibit unidentified/unknown persons from doing certain activities if their identity is not known at the time of the order being sought.
In Toxic, the order means that even third parties who are not specifically named as respondents may be prevented from publishing or circulating content that falls within the court's directives.
The restriction applies to social media and media platforms, the film team said.
